Microgaming’s PlayItForward initiative donates £7.5k each to four charities

Online casino software provider Microgaming has split £30,000 equally among four different charitable organizations as part of PlayItForward, the company’s CSR initiative. With the Gift of Giving program, Microgaming customers have the ability to vote for a charity in their home region, which included The Isle of Man, United Kingdom & Europe, Africa and the Rest of the World. Rather than Christmas gifts, Microgaming provides the donations to the chosen charities in their respective global region.

The vote took place back in December as part of Microgaming’s Gift of Giving, marking the fifth year of donations, with a total of £150,000 having been donated in that time frame, according to the news release.

For the second consecutive year,  Women’s Refuge (pictured) in the Isle of Man, Teenage Cancer Trust in Europe and the UK, Save the Rhino International in Africa and Médecins Sans Frontières for the Rest of the World, received the most votes in each region.

Supporting families for more than two decades, Women’s Refuge provides safe accommodations on a temporary basis to women and their children who face domestic abuse on the Isle of Man. The Manx-registered charity is reportedly mostly run by volunteers and unpaid committee members.

In the UK, where a staggering seven youngsters are faced with a Cancer diagnosis every day, Teenage Cancer Trust works with patients ages 13 to 24 to ensure they aren’t alone in dealing with the disease. Young people and their families are helped to cope with the many ways in which cancer can affect one’s mind, body and life.

In the African region, Save the Rhino International has been the recipient of Microgaming’s Gift of Giving vote for three years running. The vision of the UK-registered charity is to see all five rhino species thrive in the wild for future generations. Together with its partners, Save the Rhino International supports endangered rhinos in Asia as well as Africa. Over the last three years, the company has donated £25,500 in total to the charity.

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) was founded in Dec. 1971 in Paris, France and operates as a medical humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance to people who have been affected by natural disasters, armed conflict, healthcare exclusion and epidemics. The charity has earned donations in the past from Gift of Giving, once in 2014 and again in 2016.
